“We are delighted to add so many top notch real estate and data industry businesses to REDPLAN™”, says Darity Wesley, REDPLAN™’s Administrator. “It has been shown over the years in both the business world and the legal world that there is strength in numbers. Collaborative action is powerful! Consider the success of some recent lawsuits regarding intellectual property rights like one with ASCAP, and one that was recently raised and won against Facebook that had used the personal pictures or profiles of users in advertisements without the users’ consent. Precedents are set by collective actions.”
“The industry has produced an alliance that allows our group to have a stronger voice together than a single business. Since we can all agree that the life blood of our business is the free and fair flow of data, we have a common ground from which to cooperate,” says Gregg Larson, founder and CEO of Clareity, REDPLAN visionary and one of its five founding board members.
REDPLAN™ is an association owned and run by its members for the purpose of protecting the intellectual property of member companies, promoting the common interests of the real estate information industry and keeping its members informed of pertinent issues.
REDPLAN, Inc., a Delaware Nonprofit Corporation, is an organization dedicated to protecting the real estate industry’s copyrighted materials and intellectual property rights. Protecting real estate data for its rightful owners has been a prominent issue in today’s information industry, thus giving reason to create REDPLAN™. REDPLAN™’s Board of Directors is being garnered and will be comprised of representatives of its member companies: MLSs, Associations of REALTORS®, Brokerages, Franchises, Real Estate Information Companies and those who compile real estate data. The advocacy group’s initial leadership team will be its growing Board of Directors.
